Systems Support Engineer


To work within the Technical Services Team, supporting SBL’s external customers and internal IT systems and staff.


To carry out a varied selection of duties including, but not limited to:

  1. Acting as 2nd line technical helpdesk support to external customers, internal staff and systems and hosting environment
  2. Support of Windows Server Operating Systems and Server applications including Exchange, SQL Server and IT Security products on internal and Customer systems.
  3. Support of virtualisation infrastructure
  4. Support of network infrastructure
  5. Server maintenance and upgrades
  6. Server and client security configuration
  7. May be required to be available ‘on call’ out of normal business hours
  8. All other IT duties which may arise


Skills / Experience Required:

  1. Minimum 36 Months experience in a IT systems environment
  2. Experience and good working knowledge of Microsoft Server/Client products
  3. PC/Server Hardware.
  4. Good knowledge of computer network system protocols, IP addressing and TCP\IP networking
  5. IT Security Products
  6. Must have current full driving license


Desirable Knowledge/Qualifications

  1. Cisco CCNA
  2. Microsoft MCSA/MCSE
  3. Microsoft SharePoint
  4. Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop
  5. Microsoft CRM
  6. Linux/Unix Operating Systems
  7. Mobile Device Management Platforms
  8. Server Hardware
  9. IT Security products
