Microsoft Solution Specialist


This role will work within the SBL Microsoft Business Team whose role is to provide dedicated support on Microsoft Business Solutions and innovative Licensing solutions for our customers.


To comply with all company policy, procedures and other instructions as may from time to time be issued including Health, Safety, Environmental, Security and HR documentation.

The main responsibility of this Microsoft Team Member is pre and post-sales support of licensing agreements and related services in to SBL’s customer base. This role is to ensure that both existing and new customers understand the benefits of the Microsoft Agreements available to them, which in turn will drive potential areas of new business opportunity to support SBL in exceeding targets. Alongside the work completed with our existing customer base there is also a requirement to identify new business with potential new customers both in licensing and related Microsoft services working in collaboration with the wider sales teams within SBL.  Although the post holder would also be expected to perform any other duties which might reasonably be required by the business.


To carry out a varied selection of duties including, but not limited to:

  1. Responsible for selling Microsoft Technology and licensing to existing and new customers through calls and meetings.
  2. Promotion and positioning of all Microsoft services offered through SBL internally and in conjunction with our dedicated Microsoft partners.
  3. Intelligently profile customer accounts to understand the potential Microsoft opportunities in licensing and services working in partnership with the Microsoft Alliance Manager to maximise all opportunities.
  4. Develop an effective Microsoft sales strategy – in conjunction with the Microsoft Alliance Manager – to support the Microsoft business strategy.
  5. Work with Microsoft – via the Microsoft Alliance Manager - to optimise the SBL engagement by utilising the available resources and contacts to further progress this relationship.
  6. Work collaboratively with the wider sales teams to identify Microsoft opportunities within their customer base and to build your knowledge of the verticals you will be working in.
  7. Work with the Microsoft Alliance Manager to optimise use of resources, drive operational improvements and business growth.
  8. Work with marketing to understand customer requirements and identify target markets with a view to positioning the SBL offering.
  9. Accurately forecast opportunities and manage pipeline.
  10. Research and develop your understanding of Microsoft's solutions and initiatives in order to fulfil all requests for information
  11. Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the activities and their results and take appropriate action.
